AT&T EL52200 DECT 6.0 2 Handset Cordless Telephones Review

Telephones was easy to install, only (1) phone jack is required for the main unit.Second unit just needs a power outlet.Sound quality is good, no distortion with great range.

I also like that you can listen and delete the voice messages from the handset.

No problems with the caller ID.

Nothing bad to say about this phone.

AT&T TL76008 5.8GHz 2-Line Digital Cordless Expansion Handset (Titanium and Metallic Charcoal) Review

AT&T TL76008 5.8GHz 2-Line Digital Cordless Expansion Handset (Titanium and Metallic Charcoal) Review

Telephoness sound great; easy to set up and all went as directions indicated; probably great for home use.

Some irritating features (no directory fast dial buttons).

Small business problems: (1) TERRIBLE: an extension can pick up on an ongoing call – our antique Panasonic system didn’t allow this but this system does and is an irritating issue I specifically did NOT want and couldn’t imagine was not included in this system (2) too many functions require using the menu instead of convenient buttons (3) no mute button except on base station (4) memorized phone numbers are hard to use – have to use directory – no hot buttons – (but are easy to enter) (5) TERRIBLE: no DND or ability to send ringing call directly to voicemail immediately.

System looks great; voice quality is good even on conference and speaker, range seems fine. Would recommend for homes but not for small business.

AT&T DECT 6.0 Four Handset Cordless Telephones with Answering System EL52419 (Black) Review

AT&T DECT 6.0 Four Handset Cordless Telephones with Answering System EL52419 (Black) Review

I am a tough customer.I check the specs and shun marketing hype. This cordless set exceeds my expectations.

Cordless phones have been a problem for me, with poor quality between kitchen and master bedroom even with the so called extended range phones. This is the first cordless phone system to meet my satisfaction. And I have tried lots. The range is great, a critical factor.

Sound quality is first rate, and the speaker phone works well, better than expected and no complaints from family or the caller at the other end.The intercom is a bonus.

I am relieved that all family members could figure it out without instruction. One can dial it like a landline or a cell phone, with or without getting the dial tone first.Nice touch.

The only down side is that they were too cheap to include provision for power outages which result in some setup feature loss.

I also checked out power usage, the remotes draw about a watt each, the central unit about 2-3 watts. At 10 cents per kilowatt hour, that calculates to about $5 a year for electricity. That beats my previous systems that cost about $20 a year for electricity. The marketing people missed this one.Imagine the countrywide energy savings if people switched over to more power efficient phone sets.

I’ve had the phones for 3 months now.So far reliability is OK.

AT&T CL81309 DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephones, Black/Silver, 3 Handsets Review

AT&T CL81309 DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephones, Black/Silver, 3 Handsets Review

Finally a phone that works and isn’t a P.O.S. I had an expensive Panasonic ($125) single cordless phone with no answering machine. Can’t hear anything on the Panasonic phone and they said it needs to be unplugged and plugged in when it does this – to reboot it. Needed to be rebooted a few times a day – now it’s in the garbage where it belongs. We also had Uniden phones (5 of them) – all very poor quality and noisy with poor range.

This AT&T phone has a great range with excellent sound. No noise! Easy to program. Only need to program one phone – all the handsets will then see your directory entries. No need to program each separately. These were so great that I bought a 3 phone expansion pack: 3 more handsets. I also bout a great headset that works on the DECT 6.0 1.9GHz instead of bluetooth. That means it has great range.

We have AT&T voicemail – so we didn’t need or want an answering machine. A Voicemail button would have been nice, but we just put it in as an entry in the directory.

Another big plus is the ability to talk on multiple handsets at the same time. My other cordless phones couldn’t do this (just one conversation between the base and one handset at a time). Now I can pick up the phone and when it’s for someone else – they can pick it up before I hang up. And we can both talk to someone on two handsets at the same time. I think it supports 4 handsets simultaneously…

here’s the headset that works with this:

AT&T TL90078 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Expansion Handset Review

AT&T TL90078 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Expansion Handset Review

I think this phone, and more generally DECT cordless phone technology, are very good ideas. The benefits I’ve noticed with this phone are increased range, better call quality and pretty much zero conflict with my home wireless network. The Bluetooth feature for pairing with your cell phone is OK, but ultimately I didn’t end up using it as much as I thought I would. Really this would be best suited for someone who primarily uses their cell and isn’t worried about over-extending their mobile phone plan by using it even when home. It is a convenience to be able to consolidate your home and mobile calling activity in one handset, but to some degree this feature is rendered obsolete (in my opinion) by something like Google Voice that will basically provide the same kind merging of your phone traffic, and do it for free.

The biggest gripe I have with the phone is quality/durability. After a year or so, I started noticed that the handsets would intermittently lose their connection to the base. A message like “searching for base” would appear in the phone display, and it wouldn’t be able to make or receive calls until you unplugged the base unit AND re-seated the battery in each handset! This was a nuisance at first, but it began happening more and more frequently after 2 years or so of use, to the point that the phone is practically non-functional now. I really don’t think there is any plausible explanation for this issue in terms of signal interference, given that is what DECT technology is meant to expressly solve. It’s more likely there is something physically wrong with the phone. On top of that, now one of the handsets has what I’m guessing is a depleted battery, as it won’t even turn on anymore. 2 years seems a little fast for a battery to die, and it’s also fair to point out that since there are 2 handsets included with the product, it’s not like only 1 handset bore the brunt of our usage the whole time; we probably split call time on both phones.

I think DECT phones are the way to go, and I plan on buying another one. However, I will not, in all likelihood, purchase another AT&T DECT phone.
